Quality Control Specialist

 Job Summary:

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the QC Specialist will have direct involvement on the QC department. The QCS will be responsible for critical inspections such as Instrument business and consumables. The individual will also be in charge of the calibration system, and the Quality system within the QC department, which includes developing metrics and presenting reports to the quality manager when required. He or she will participate in the quality improvements within the area and provide trainings to new inspectors when the need arrives.

 

 Essential Responsibilities: The following list highlights the key responsibilities/tasks.

 Inspection

  • Perform Critical Inspections as needed
  • Keeps QC documentation updated and develop new documentation as needed
  • Review forms and improve them
  • Update QC Plans.
  • Create QC plans when necessary
  • Verify drawings revision level
  • Perform incoming inspections

 Calibration System

  • Maintain the equipment under the QMS calibrated
  • Search for new equipment when needed
  • Ensure service suppliers are qualified

 Quality Records

  • Reviewing Records on the production floor (Work Orders, Records, and actual data such as measurements, etc.) and verify for completion and accuracy.
  • Verify data in Quality Inspection records, and check for completion and consistency with manufacturing records.
  • Request corrections to the corresponding individual if necessary
  • Scan all records that pertain to the folder and place them in Visual.
  • Archive and store paper format.

 Suppliers

  • Supply information about critical suppliers performance
  • Keep open communication with suppliers in terms of non-conformances, documentation and equipment
  • Participate in the MRB

 Quality System

  • Participate in CA closure.
  • Perform Quality Rounds in the different areas to look for Opportunities of Improvements
  • Open and Follow up Opportunities of Improvement
  • Initiate RMAs and do follow up until closed
  • Assist on documentation review for Quality System Certification ISO 9001
  • Metrics and Reporting: Keep track of metrics and perform periodic reports for the QC department.

 Suppliers

  • Supply information about critical suppliers performance
  • Keep open communication with suppliers in terms of non-conformances, documentation and equipment

 Engineering

  • Participate in meetings for product development when needed
  • Provide information, metrics and feedback for current designs
  • Participate in the definition of inspections, instruments and precision to be needed according to the specifications on the design
  • Perform inspections in the design phase as required by the R&D department, issue report and provide feedback accordingly

 Service

  • Participate in improvements meetings when required

 

 Qualifications:  The employee in this role should have some or all of the following  characteristics /qualifications:

 Education:

 High school

 Required

 Bachelor’s degree in science

 Preferred

 Knowledge:

 Manufacturing Process of Core and Pathlength products

 Required

 ASQ QCT Certified

 Required

 Quality Management Systems ISO 9001. ISO standards, procedure and process approach, documentation in general.

 Preferred

 MSDS, CoA, SDS concept and purpose

 Preferred

 Visual, Drawings features and symbols, Keyence basic use, Keyence programming. Measurement system. Keyence procedure. Measurement systems. Concept of Tolerance, AQL, Basic sampling, Non-conforming material.

 Preferred

 Non-conforming control and segregation concepts.

 Required

 Quality systems. Tools for improvements. Metrics, objectives, reporting.

 Preferred

 Audit procedure, CA And PA process and concepts. NC database procedure. Procedure of Control of Documents and Records control

 Preferred

 Work Experience:

 2 years in a manufacturing environment

 Required

 1-2  years in quality Inspection

 Required

 Inforouter basic use

 Preferred

 ISO standards, procedure and process approach, documentation in general.

 Skills:
