Network/Systems Workgroup Administrator


Job Summary:

The PC/Network Administrator is responsible for complete hardware support, end user support and monitoring and maintaining the company network.

Qualifications:  The employee in this role should have some or all of the following characteristics / qualifications:


Minimum two-year technical school or associates degree


Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Discipline


Work Experience:

Minimum 3-5 years of experience with hardware, Windows OS, Windows Server and Active Directory in an office environment.



Excellent verbal and written communications skills


Strong Mechanical Aptitude


Excellent Troubleshooting and Problem Solving Skills



Essential Responsibilities: The following list highlights the key responsibilities/tasks.

Systems Administration Related Responsibilities

  1. Troubleshoot all hardware issues relating to workstations and servers.
  2. Able to configure hardware-based RAID systems.
  3. Responsible for hard disk and memory upgrades for all machine types consisting of laptops, workstations and servers.
  4. Setup new desktop and laptop systems for new users including routing of Ethernet cables for offices and cubicles.
  5. Configure and maintain workstation and server images using Symantec Ghost Solution Suite or any other imaging software.
  6. Proficient in installing Windows 7, Windows 10 and Windows Server operating systems on laptops, desktops and servers.
  7. Configure and maintain Dell DRAC network for existing Dell PowerEdge tower and rack servers.
  8. Troubleshoot and maintain local and networked printers.
  9. Setup and configure network access points for Wi-Fi network.
  10. Comfortable researching and ordering all hardware related components and peripherals.
  11. Research new printers, laptops, workstations and servers and prepare quotes for purchasing.
  12. Install digital and VoIP phones for existing PBX system.
  13. Install, troubleshoot and support current VPN client software for laptops and tablets.
  14. User account management using Office 365 portal.
  15. Install and configure Office 365, Skype and other business-related Microsoft products.


Network Administration Related Responsibilities

  1. Maintain, monitor and install network backup software (Veritas Backup Exec) for servers and workstations.
  2. Monitor daily backup jobs, installation of backup agents and maintenance of virtual online backups.
  3. Maintain, monitor and install network antivirus software (SEP) and malware (Malwarebytes) for servers and workstations.
  4. Duties include machine installations, basic policy design and scheduling of weekly scans and sweeps.
  5. Windows Server Active Directory account setup maintenance.  Responsible for all facets of user, group and computer management.
  6. Able to write and apply Group Policies for domain level workstations and servers.
  7. Solid understanding of DHCP, DNS, Hyper-V and Remote Desktop services.
  8. Able to understand Windows local and domain groups and their security roles.
  9. Configure, support and maintain Microsoft updates implementing WSUS 3.0.
  10. Windows Server support such updates and service packs, share management and user permissions control.
  11. Group Policy design and implementation for domain servers and workstations.
  12. Create administrative scripts using PowerShell and VBScript.
  13. Setup and test upgrades for enterprise level software.
  14. Familiar with basic VLAN setup and concepts.
  15. Install managed and unmanaged switches.
  16. Understand basic firewall concepts such port configuration, NAT and access rules.
