Electrical Engineer

Job Summary:

The Electrical Engineer works in the product development and manufacturing engineering groups of the corresponding fiber optic and instrument business units. The products involved are optical fiber based assemblies and instruments that are used in a wide range of industries including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, science and technology, telecommunications, metrology and others. The individual must have strong electrical design skills and analytical approach to design and problem solving. The individual will develop instrument control systems which include step motors, encoders, detectors, and sensors. The individual will be involved with A/D circuity design, firmware develop and validation, board design and assembly. The individual will interact with customers/vendors and converting their inputs into the design specs.  The individual will also be involved with troubleshooting manufacturing problems, supporting sales, quality vendors and customers.

Qualifications:  The employee in this role should have some or all of the following  characteristics/qualifications:

Education:

BS or higher degree in Electrical/Control Engineering

Work Experience:

5+ years of experience in electrical/control engineering design preferred

Design control systems involving step motors, encoders, detectors, and sensors

Design PLCs, RTUs, SCADA, and HMI.. etc current control protocols

Design latest standard bus formats, PCIe, CAN, Ethernet, USB, and I2C

Circuit design and board layout, FPGA programing

Skills:

Software – LabView, Eagle PCB, MS Office, MS Project

Familiar with ISA88, GAMP, 21CFR11, EU GMP Annex, etc.

Ability to work in a multicultural background

Outstanding analytical skills

Strong organizational and communication skills

The ability to oversee projects as whole as well as individual processes

 

Essential Responsibilities: The following list highlights the key responsibilities/tasks.

  1. Develop instrument control systems including components such as step/server motors, actuator, encoders, motor drivers, detectors, and sensors.
  2. Design instrument communication protocols with standard buses, such as serial(USB or RS485), TCP/IP, Ethernet, Profibus
  3. Design analog and/or digital circuitries and PC boards
  4. Program motor drivers and firmware
  5. Develop test fixtures and performing tests to prove design functionality, performance, reliability
  6. Write detailed functional specifications that document newly created designs and support product introduction
  7. Work with design resources both internally and externally to achieve design objectives
  8. Participate in technical design reviews, risk assessments, FMEA etc.
  9. Oversee tests to comply regulatory requirements, such as UL, CE, and Pharmacopeia
  10. Set, maintain, and meet project schedules by using scheduling tools
  11. Support to sales, manufacturing, purchasing quality departments
  12. Vendor development and coordination
  13. Work as part of a design team
